June News: X|A Advanced Design Workshop + Apomechanes

July is going to be a pretty busy month for Athens, Greece while two very interesting workshops regarding Computational Design are taking place.

The first one is X|A Advanced Design Workshop from X-Atelier situated in Benaki Museum in Athens from 14th to 29th of July. The Workshop will run primarily using Autodesk Maya and other fundamental software digital design tools. The main aspiration of this workshop is to a critical argument based on individual research, which will translate into pure geometrical-formal exploration.

The second one is the third year in a row running, Apomechanes . An intensive computational design studio held also in Athens, Greece. The studio is devoted to furthering techniques and concepts of algorithmic processes as means for design and fabrication. apomechanes brings together individuals from diverse backgrounds and fields of study to discuss, exchange and collaborate on projects that investigate modes of algorithmic and machinic processes in architectural design. The main tool of used in Apomechanes this year will be the Python Scripting Language for Rhinoceros and Maya.

I would not hesitate to suggest X|A ‘s Advanced design Workshop for the average user as it does not require an scripting knowledge and it focuses on the architectural outcome of the design process. On the other hand Apomechanes is quite advanced and with higher level of difficulty on that matter, but at the same time really intriguing. If you enjoy coding in general just go for it.
